I made these for the two older girls and have had this in mind for some time now. Since we left Philadelphia they have been sending mail back and forth to their friends. It is super cute but I kept on finding letters in random places. I didn't want to accidentally recycle them (that would be very bad) so this was perfect.
The pattern is from Amanda Soule's book Handmade Home. It's pretty straight forward and easy. Three pieces of fabric folded together and then up to make an envelope shape. I used my machine's fancy stitches with was seriously exciting and stamped their names with letter stamps. They had picked out the fabric at fabric depot. I love the news print one. Canine Chronicles!
The girls loved them. The middle one doesn't have as many letters but I am sure she will find lots of tiny animal erasers, leaves, rocks, or random things she finds on the ground to fill it with! She is 6 after all.
